If you have an 8 quart Instant Pot you are probably wondering what accessories fit the larger model. With the exception of a few items for the Duo Evo Plus, most of the accessories are interchangeable between the Lux, Duo, Duo Nova, Duo Plus, Ultra, Viva, or Duo Crisp.
The 8 Quart Instant Pot is one of the larger sizes available with only a few accessories made for these models. The good news you can use anything that fits in a 6quart model in the larger model.
It may feel like you’re not fully taking advantage of the larger Instant Pot. If you decide to buy a larger pan to fit the 8 quart size and double a recipe in the process, you may need to adjust the cooking time, especially if you end up with a thicker amount of food to cook.

Instant Pot 8 Quart Accessories to expand your cooking options
The accessories for the 8 Quart Instant Pot range from additional inner liners, sealing rings, and additional pans you can use for pot-in-pot cooking. Here’s quick review of all of the options available and how you might use them.
Tempered glass lid
A glass lid is something you can use for the slow cooker mode when serving a dish as it’s on the keep warm setting, or to keep the splashing down while sauteing. Make sure you grab the 8 quart version as is this one of the accessories that’s not interchangeable with a smaller model.
Inner Liners (stainless steel and nonstick)
Having an extra inner liner or two is great if you’re cooking up a few dishes back to back or doing meal prep. Save time by not having to stop to wash the pot. You can also prep the next recipe you’re planning to cook in a separate liner so it’s ready to go when your Instant Pot finishes cooking.
Aside from the stainless steel liner you receive with your Instant Pot, the company also makes a nonstick version that’s useful for cooking sticky dishes such as mac and cheese.
Silicone lid for the inner liner
If you’re thinking about cooking and then putting the liner into the refrigerator (after cooling of course), it’s nice to have a properly fitting cover. Consider picking up a silicone lid so you don’t have to use plastic wrap or another single use cover.
Extra sealing rings
If there is a short list of the absolutely must have Instant Pot accessories, extra sealing rings is likely at the top. One of the things you’ll notice is that the silicone can pickup cooking smells and they’re challenging to remove. And over time with enough cooking, they can lose their sealing capability.
Instead of having your cheesecake taste like chili, grab an extra pack of sealing rings to save yourself the annoyances and weird tasting food.
They’re available in clear and red/blue. Having different color rings is also useful for figuring out which ones are for stronger savory dishes and desserts.
Stainless Steal Steamer Basket
Steamer baskets are great for cooking veggies and anything small you need to lift out later. Instead of individually picking out chicken wings, you can pick up the enter thing together.
You can also bulk cook chicken breasts by stacking them in a steamer basket. It’s much easier to get them out in one lift.
And a steamer basket with holes is easier to clean if you’re working with really messy foods such as meat.
Mesh Steam Basket
Similar to the other steam basket, a mesh basket is great for cooking veggies and eggs. Mesh is better if you’re working with “easy to clean up” foods, so maybe not the best for anything that’s oily.
When you’re deciding between the two different types of steamer baskets, consider what you plan to cook. And no one will judge you if you decide yo need one of each.
Egg Steamer Trivets
If you’d prefer to not stack your eggs directly on top of each other, you can buy a trivet with hole specifically sized for eggs. And this doesn’t need to turn into a single-purpose accessory either.
You can cook pieces of meat or other foods on the stacked trivets as well. Or use one to elevate a pot-in-pot off the bottom of the liner.
Stackable steamer
Another interesting accessories are the steamers which allow you to cook multiple things separately at the same time. You can use them for steaming veggies and meat in separate sections. And the pans can double as cheesecake pans.
This set is also useful for reheating food and other pot-in-pot cooking.
Push pans and parchment liners
Push pans are useful for cooking multiple types of dishes from cheesecakes to lasagnas. Some people prefer the push pan to the spring form pan. For the smaller Instant Pots, push pans give you more pan space.
Since most recipes are written for a the 6 quart models, the 7 inch pans will fit in an 8 quart. You can probably also fit a 8 inch pan in the 8 quart. Just make sure to check if you need to adjust the cooking time if the food you’re cooking changes in thickness.
And don’t forget parchment liners for whatever pan you decide to buy. You need them for cheesecakes and they make it easier to release whatever you’re cooking from the pan regardless.
Spring form pan
With the 8 quart Instant Pot, you have a little more room for a wider pan than you do with the 6 quart. If you’re looking to cook cheesecakes or lasagnas, you may want to consider a spring form pan to make it even easier to take your finished dish out of the pan.
And just like the push pan, you may want to buy bottom liners to make it easier to take your food of the pan base.
Don’t forget the pan will be very hot. To remove the pan when it’s done cooking you’ll either need a trivet with handles or to create a sling from aluminum foil.
Fluted (bundt) pan
Yes you can “bake” in an Instant Pot. Aside from cheesecakes and other types of cakes you can make many types of desserts such as monkey bread. Instead of it all being in just a regular round cake pan, check out the bundt pans.
If you look around, you can also find recipes for meatloafs, egg dishes, and other desserts that work well in a bundt pan.
If you decide to buy a different version, do make sure you check the width. Usually, these pans have an extra edge of them that might prevent it from fitting properly in the inner liner.
Don’t forget the pan will be very hot. To remove the pan when it’s done cooking you’ll either need a trivet with handles or to create a sling from aluminum foil.
Cake Pan (solid bottom)
Some of the dishes you plan on cooking won’t work well in a push pan as it can leak. A solid bottom cake pan is better for those recipes. A crustless quiche or similar dish would work better in one of these types of pans.
Don’t forget the pan will be very hot. To remove the pan when it’s done cooking you’ll either need a trivet with handles or to create a sling from aluminum foil.
Porcelain dish
One final dish style to consider is a porcelain dish instead of trying glass. Avoid buying glass as the sudden heating process can shatter the dishes.
Porcelain dishes hold heat differently than a metal pan. These solid dishes can be used for crustless quiches and different types of desserts. Consider one of these when you’re looking for a dish you can both cook and serve in.
And don’t stop at the larger dish, you can also buy smaller ramekins for cooking individual portions.
Don’t forget the pan will be very hot and very heavy. To remove the pan when it’s done cooking you’ll either need a trivet with handles or to create a sling from aluminum foil.
Egg bite molds
Aside from hard boiled eggs, egg bites are one of the top recommended dish to make an Instant Pot. To make these indiivudal servings you either need an egg bite mold or small ramekins.
If you decide to buy a mold set, make sure you buy one with silicone lids so you can cover and stack them for cooking. You will need trivet to ensure the mold stays out of the boiling water. And if have something with handles that’s even easier to remove once cooking is done.
If you don’t have handles, try tying butcher twine or creating an aluminum foil sling to safely remove the hot dish.
Silicone sling
To make it easier to remove your finished dishes, you can buy a silicone sling to help you lift hot food and pans. It’s also nice because it’s reusable compared to aluminum foil.
Silicone will bend easier compared to a solid metal sling so that’s something to keep in mind depending on the hot dish or pan you need to lift.
Roasting trivet
Trivets are great for keeping food off the bottom of the liner that you don’t want to either scorch or soak in water.
Aside from the metal trivet you receive in the box, you may also want to try one made of silicone.
Cute Devil Oven Pull to release the pressure
You need to be careful when releasing the pressure from an Instant Pot because the steam is hot. And if you want to do a controlled quick release it can be a challenge to stand there and push the manual knob. With this cute devil oven pull, you can safely release the pressure slowly.
If you wedge it correctly, you can do a hands-free controlled release so that the knob is open just enough to release some pressure without completely coating your sealing in steam. It takes a little practice, but it’s worth it.
